The Old Irion County Courthouse on the public square in Sherwood was built in 1901 as the work of master builders Martin & Moodie. It is a two-story, square-plan stone building, and served as the county courthouse until 1936, when the county seat was moved to Mertzon. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977 (as Irion County Courthouse).
