History
This roadside marker directs travelers toward the nearby grave of Elizabeth Patton Crockett (1788-1860), the second wife of frontiersman and U.S. congressman David 'Davy' Crockett. She married Crockett in Tennessee in 1815 and, after his death at the Alamo, came to Texas on land granted for his service, dying in what is now Hood County in 1860. The state erected a monument over her grave in Acton Cemetery in 1913, and the site is preserved as the Acton State Historic Site, the smallest state park in Texas.
