History

Businessman, banker, and state legislator Jess Baker and his wife Alice built this Queen Anne house with Classical Revival touches in Granbury in 1905, featuring a corner turret, a formal two-story-columned portico, and a wraparound porch. After the Bakers died in the early 1920s, the house was bought by physician Dr. Arch Carmichael and his wife Dora. It is a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
