Frederick Browder Gentry (1810-1897), born in Williamson County, Tennessee, moved to Texas in 1832 and fought as a private at the Battle of San Jacinto in 1836. He married Rebecca Barnett, daughter of Texas Declaration of Independence signer George W. Barnett, and settled in Hamilton County in 1856, where he commanded a frontier minuteman company for defense. He is buried in the Graves-Gentry Cemetery at Hamilton.
