History

The First Presbyterian Church of Bonham was organized on the third Sabbath of August 1872 by the Rev. E. V. Shephardson with a small charter membership. For about thirteen years the congregation met in borrowed buildings before erecting its own church, distinguished by a spire and belfry, in 1885.
