History

The Columbus Oak is a massive live oak in Columbus, estimated to be more than five hundred years old and long ranked among the largest oak trees in Texas. Growing near the Colorado River where members of Stephen F. Austin's Old Three Hundred settled in 1821, the tree stands as a living witness to the area's early frontier history and is a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark.
