This residence was associated with Allen Academy, the Bryan boys' school co-founded by Rivers O. ("R. O.") Allen, who with his brother John H. Allen moved the institution to Bryan in 1899. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987 among the Historic Resources of Bryan; the building no longer stands.
