History

Searsville Baptist Church traces to Josiah Le Grande Sears, who came to Bosque County from Virginia in 1855-56 and operated a general store and post office called Searsville near Valley Mills. He built a rock building that served as both church and schoolhouse and later organized the Searsville Baptist Church at its present location.
