The Rock Front Saloon, built about 1870 in McDade, doubled as a stagecoach stand, post office, and business house on the frontier. It became the focal point of the vigilante violence that gripped McDade in the 1870s and 1880s, including the notorious Christmas hangings and gunfights of 1883. The stone building survives and now houses the McDade Historical Society Museum.
