Thomas Osborn was an early settler of the Red Rock area of Bastrop County and a veteran of the Texas Revolution, dying in 1891. Red Rock grew at the crossing of the Austin-Port Lavaca stagecoach road and the Bastrop-Gonzales trail. The nearby Old Red Rock Cemetery holds the graves of many pioneer settlers, including veterans of the Texas Revolution, the Mexican War, and the Civil War.
