History

The Governor Joseph D. Sayers House at 1903 Wilson Street in Bastrop is a one-story Greek Revival residence completed about 1868, which Sayers built for his wife Ada Watson. It was the home of Joseph Draper Sayers, who served as governor of Texas from 1899 to 1903, from 1868 until 1899. The house was documented by the Historic American Buildings Survey (HABS TX-33-C-5) and is part of Bastrop's National Register of Historic Places resources.
