The Hall-Sayers-Perkins House at 1307 Church Street in Bastrop was the home of Dr. David Sayers, who moved to Bastrop so his sons could attend the Bastrop Military Institute. His son Joseph Sayers went on to serve as Governor of Texas from 1899 to 1903. Built by N. B. Tanner and blending elements from several periods, the house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
