History

The Fowler-Jenkins House at 1302 Pecan Street in Bastrop is a Late Victorian home built in 1906 by J. P. Fowler Jr. and purchased in 1912 by Hartford and Beulah Jenkins. Hartford Jenkins served as Bastrop County's first superintendent of schools and later as county judge, commissioner, and district clerk. The house was designated a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark in 1971 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
