The Angelina River Bridge carried U.S. Route 59 over the Angelina River near Lufkin. Built in 1935 to the design of engineer G.G. Wickline, it was a poured-concrete bridge on concrete piers, cast in roughly 25-foot sections with square balusters and chamfered rails, significant as an example of Depression-era highway engineering. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988 but was demolished and replaced with a new bridge in 1998.
